    Ascot Wednesday Hunt Cup

    5.0

    Astro King 9/1 hills/365 8/1 ppower/sportsbook 7 places generally 15/2 hills 6 places 7/1 365 8 places

Astro King was runner up in this last season to Real World now rated 118 had to give it 7 pound beaten 4 3/4ls obviously had no chance looking back,Astro Kings still gone up in the weights despite not winning since followed up with a 3rd at York off 102 and is on that mark having finished 26/27 at Newmarket and then on reappearence only 9/15 in the Thirsk Hunt Cup..Never got a run in that race near finish and wouldv'e been second although the form of that race nowhere near good enough to win this the run was respectable, there's not loads of c/d form in wednesdays race quite unusual for a specialists track and Astro King can't really say well handicapped 4 pound higher than last years second but will prefer the ground quick as long as not overwatered similar to last years ground looking at the forecast..The improvers in this race don't have any track form yet and some have not been on fast ground,as long as the ground is genuine gd/gdfm and the draws not a disadvantage then no reason to see a respectable run..Will have another look when the decs are up but this might go off a silly price if it gets what looks an advantageous draw ,certainly can't see it being 8-9/1 on the day.

Mr Trevor and Stone Circle look the ones to beat,Stone Circle rated 87 12 months ago was different class to these plummetted in weights and gets to run in a 0-60 for the first time, even though massive regression must have a great chance in this race also goes on faster and slower ground..The same applies to Mr Trevor although desperately hard to win with runs off 57 just 1/18 but down to that winning mark, was recently 4th in a 0-75 at Catterick so the obvious alternatuves to the main pick Singe Anglais..
Singe Anglais has a great record over this c/d 1/1/2/4 off marks of 61/62,62,62 and won a 0-70 at Ripon later in the season off 58,only second time in a 0-60 since June 2021, was running ok till last time out at ponte in a class 5 so maybe not ready to strike yet but jock takes off 7 so only running off 55 lowest ever mark..If the horse was running to its best would only be 7/2 -4/1 to win this, think the draw could be a negative as always gets outpaced early so being in the 1 draw could be a big negative but the prices are big on previous c/d form..if it diesn't get backed in this grade then i'd be surprised if it shows but really should be getting bet in this and could well go off 4-5/1.. even if no show..I expect punters to back this at these prices..

16/1 365...should be a cracking trade,if it doesn't get backed at these prices must be a non trier
Decent place and did what i said miised the beat from the 1 draw and ends up on the stands side, got 2.4 for 4 places as well, settle fir that.. looks overwatered again to me the ground ace was slow by 3.39 seconds supposedly gd/fm..It's virtualy every meeting they are doing it,was a definite negative against Singe Anglaise..

Will have alittle bet on this ran ok here two races ago,but don't understand why its dropped to 5f,will do it just because of the pricee.

    Ripon 6.40

    Brazen Belle 33/1 365/hills/sportsbook 5 places

Even though only a 4yr old Brazen Belle has had loads opf runs won 4 races and if was anywhere near the form of last seasons best would be fav to win this, but has regressed from being a 70s horse to now just rated 51,has also changed trainers to Colin Teague and when he takes over horses you know somethung has gone wrong or temperament..Going off huge pruces all runs for this trainer, the only decent run being two runs back here over 6fs in a slightly better race finishing 5th in a 0-65,was never really involved and tomorrow drop to 5fs looks very strange although dropped into a 0-55..Next time out raised in class and back to type, althoigh trainer said ground was too slow and that could well be the case as it may just need faster ground,no way ypu could have any confidence in the horse but back to the track it's shown one glimpse of form and ar 33s worth trying a little bet..Maybe worth following this fir a few runs as long as grounds fast as one day it might just pop u at 50/1 in an even weaker race..

A pinjob handicap not the sort of races i usually bother with 3yr olds unexposed, but as the form of Honiton has been franked numerous times this week by loads of formlines through the races it's run in it's hard not to back it,3rd on seasonal debut to My Prospero thats been touched off in the St James Palace Stakes off 114 this week the 2nd Thesis won the Britannia today off 90..Then
was 2nd to Secretary State at Chester and that won the King George The V today off 93,then was 3rd to Edgar Eldarov at Newcastle and that won the Queens Vase this week off 95 but is obviously a group 1 horse, some ridiculous looking formlines..I've come across these races in the past and they never really clicked as all of them were run in slow times, then last time out Honiton raced on better ground won a weak maiden but by 9ls pulling up,the time was just above standard and compared to the rest of the card looked very quick,a 0-90 earlier on the card 1.5 seconds above standard and Honiton carried 9 pound more as well as being faster by 1.5 seconds..The negatuve could be quick turnaround, that was only at Sandown on the 11th so may bomb out on quick return but could easily be well in off 94..Suspect once all the tipsters have gone through the form they will feel obliged to put it up based on form and time and wouldn't surprise me if it went off favourite..

There are quite a few horses that i think will get backed on Tuesday, not because i think they look exceptionally great bets they just look like horses i think will get bet and turn into decent trades,if you can get the prces and want to steal some easy money laying off then hopefully most of these will shorten..Am basing it all on the tracks being fast ground, the likelyhood is one of them won't be,but there should be free bets or somr decent trades on them, hopefully so may as well put them up..

Proud Archi 6/1 generally 4 places skybet 5 places Piastrella 9/1 hills 4 places skybet 5 places

A veteran Proud Archi great record at the track and books rarely give anything away her, infact could easily argue underpriced beaten easily by Saisons Dor over c/d last time out yet that ones only a point shorter in the betting and only a 3 pound turnaround for an easy win for 2 3/4ls..
As mentioned previously they had that meeting down as gd/fm but race was slow by almost 4 seconds, just overwatered yet again, looking at Proud Archis recent decent runs over this c/d times have been in the regoon between the standard time and 2 seconds, one of these meetungs will definiteky be overwatered just hope it's not the two i have chose because i thought there was a little angle with the griund with Proud Archi, has run well in better races on faster ground than last time out..
Piastrella won here on soft as a 2yr old over c/d was beaten easily behind She's A Danger at Donny last time out in just a 0-75 and that one runs in tomorrows race,as she has run well here on her runs like seasonal debut when 4th in a 0-80 for 3yr olds the 2nd and 3rd are now rated 10 pound higher so might be better back here..So a small interest on that one as well..

    Termonator 12/1 hills

Termonators is an unreliable type only won 2 races from 28 runs 0/8 on the turf usually i put a line through it as diesn't seem to really have a trip but has bits of form that has always made it underpriced on next runs with places,it has been 2nd over this trip once on the turf 2nd to Blistering Barney off 61 April 2021 in a 0-65..Other runs like a 2nd in a 0-75 on the aw at Newcastle a 4th off 60 in a 0-60 over 1m 4fs another 2nd off 65 dropped back two furlongs in a 0-65 over the same track..went off 11/4 fav over that same c/d beaten easily by another of tuesadays runners Cusack has 13 pound turnaround then a 3rd in a 0-60 at Wolves over 1m4fs off 57 in April..One of its better runs then on April 21st here at Beverley over 1m2fs a 0-65 on fast ground time of race was only 1.39 seconds above standard, first time on this fast ground and the rest of the field were spreadeagled behind, the 3rd was Saliure Squire and that won recently then finished only 6th of 11 at Thirsk in a 1m6f race but was a 0-70 and very fast ground, thought the run was respectable..Then last time out beaten 10ls in an amateur riders race Cusack infront of it,hopefully the ground won't be over watered and dropped back into a 0-60 if it can run to that form when 2nd off 57 on tuesday off just 54 lowest ever mark then decent ew chances..It's a horse that has sucked me in a couple of times but cannot see this going off 14/1 if ground is quick after that track second,i can see it going off half that price, may not do anything but will be amazed of its not backed ..An absolutely horendous race, but a guaranteed shortener if grounds quick, think there is a slight angle if the ground were exacly the same as the time it ran here in April..

Queen Sarabi 7/1 hills 6/1 generally

Another very poor 0-55 over 7fs Queen Sarabi recenty won a similar race here on decent fast ground off 46 beating De Vegas Kid,has a very weak profile and although i think it could win another race i'm not sure this will be run to suit..That was its only ever win in 21 starts and it looked like it was because it was on the front end on fast ground, again alot will depend on watering as there are horses in here that would look better bets if they chuck the water on..The fav Bear To Dream for one also stays a mile and there also a couple of others,i think the biggest negative for Queen Sarabi could be the pace as although it led last time, looking at the make up of the race there looks a chance there could be a pace collapse,it looks to me like most of the runnners like to lead or be prominent..I think it's worth taking these prices though as i think it's more likely to go off nearer to 4/1 so you can get a free bet or decent trade out of it..should be able to make some money or at least get a free bet with prices 5/1 above..While the two favs Bear To Dream and Red Robin look likelier winners.

    Grandstand 25/1 365 28/1 hills 22/1 generally

Grandstand doesn't run well to often but is capable of running ok in the worst races i put him up last season here won he won a 0-60 first ever run here, just 3 wins from 44 runs so you would never back it at less than these big prices..Won in September off 45 Callum Hutchinson roide it,he's riding tomorrow and it runs off 41 Hutchinson has been 1/3/4 on it on turf from four runs, impossible to predict but as it's back over the c/d it won at and hopefully fast ground then worth a small bet..I like a few in this race so even if it runs its best may not get it a place, but everythings pretty unreliable bar Rob Rivas Boy probably the most obvious pick in the race..this is only a 0-55 just hoping the grounds as quick as possible to maximize giving it a chance. You can guarantee that one of tomorrow meetngs will be overwatered at least..

    14/1 365 12/1 skybet

Unbelievable beaten by a 70s shot...great bet annoyingly will never see those prices again.a nice tiuch but sickening, stable must be gutted as it was getting backed all day long even at much shorter prices this was the day fir them, they're gonna nneed a few runs down the field to get any value now..Think the ground was dead as well which was slightly annoying, the race was slow by 7.7 seconds 5 slower than when termonatir was 2nd here,a complete farce...

This was a stupid pick,if the ground had been really quick and i knew it would get uncintested lead then mightve been ok,but the grounds dead there it's good ground and its a hirse that needs an easy lead as chucked it in with 2fs to go..

Can't believe that ride front ran with the pace then switched to the rail and got cut up wouldv'e been 3rd was staying on,the ground was against it as well over watered if i didn't know better i'd say he did that deliberately, the rail is completely dead today why they keep veering onto it..Will be keeping this in my note,an abysmal ride on wring ground and front running suicidal run,the first and second were the last two with 2 furlongs to go..

    Annaf 9/2 ppower/sportsbook.

A 0-100 handicap on the aw Annaf didn't have its first run till january 6th this year as a 4yr old winning a weak maiden on debut over this c/d,then thrown into an aw finals day qualifier at Kempton beaten 2 1/2ls by 95 rated Kaboo, then won a weak maiden here over 5fs..Then got put in the 3yr old champioships race here over 6fs had a poor draw in 1 and gave the field 6-7ls,eventually running on to be 4th to the progressive El Caballo and Tiger Flows was beaten that 4ls but hey are rated 112 and 107 although beaten easily at Ascot last week in a group 1,but those horses are still lightly raced themselves and may imprive yet again..Annafs been given a mark of 95 yet been beaten easily in a Newmarket handicap already, then last time out 5th in a 0-105 at York although fir the grade looked a weak race..the main positive was the time it ran here behind El Caballo and Tiber King, that race was run in 1m10.62 compared to 1m11.06 in the earlier conditions race wouldv'e been 4th in that race and beaten horses 10 pound superior some were higher..Still open to improvement on this surface could be well handicapped specifically here, hopefully a half decent draw and runs to that form..

    2.25

    Spycatcher 5/1 corals

Spycatcher was 3rd in the conditons race that preceded the 3yr old race that Annaf ran in,and wouldv'e been beaten 2 1/2ls by the 3yr old pair if it had run in that correspoding race,he was drawn 13 and missed the break abd eventually finished on the wide oiutside and just touched off while the others all had high draws and decent positions up with or just off the pace..Strictly on that form has a bit to find with saturdays progressive fav Sense Of Duty 4ls a line through Edraak and Benefit, and that one beat Flotus LTO and that was 3rd to perfect Power in a group 1 at Ascot last week so its form looks rock solid,so if that one takes to the surface or has a far better draw then would be the one to beat as still progressing..Very difficult to know if Spycatcher could have done that much better of it had broke on terms seems unlikely, but then went to York and was 2nd in the Clipper Logistics to Highfield Princess a decent group 2 run in a very fast time,Highfield Princess ran well at Ascot finishing 6th only beaten 1 1/4ls in the Jubilee Stakes..Spycatcher doesn't look great value at 5/1 with other higher rated horses in the race and has had another hard race over 7fs at Haydock not running well since, but has looked good on his aw runs..Only worth a small bet,it may even drift yet depending on draw etc..the fav looks the one to beat if running,it will be interesting to see if it runs as Haggas is always the man to beat on aw placings although the sire is just at 7% on Tapeta..£45k up for grabs in a race if it was turf then would probaly be shorter..

That hasn't worked out well Appleby has decided to run Annaf in the Chipstead instead of the handicap, which now is a totally garbage 0-100 a very very strange move but instead of the easy picking 15k he couldv'e got,if you read the times above as i said Annafs race was far quicker than Spycatchers by .46 seconds so has just over a length to find but a 7 pound turnaroundratings wise has a stone..The rag of the field at 40/1 365/hills 4 places skybet 5 places 50/1 ppower then i suppose you have to have a small bet just based on the times from that day..Annoyingly Spycatcher has also like last time ended up with a stinking draw in 3 running against the same horses that bat it lsst time and again they have the highs, could not possibly be confident now with the same scenario and all the good horses Gklen Shiel and especiallySense Of Duty that had 4ls on Spycatcher etc have high draws..Going to leave the bets still but minimum confidence now..
