    1.30 - Huntingdon - Red Admirable. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 18/1.
Arden Dennis well be hard to beat if he is in the sort of form he was when winning at Wincanton on Saturday. A seven pound penalty won't stop him if he is but he ia a very short price and there are a few in opposition who are well treated nowadays. Red Admirable is one of them. He fell over fences on his seasonal reappearance and has been back over hurdles in four starts since. His best two efforts came over this C/D and he ran better than the bare result suggests over 26 furlongs at Southwell last time out. He only faded out of things in the latter stages, eventually pulling up, and the drop back in trip accompanied by a return to this track could see him on the premises. He is now on a career low mark of 98 and has suggested that he retains enough ability to get competitive in this grade.

    5.15 - Chelmsford:
Nouvelle Ere. 1.5 pts win. Available at 8/1.
Gladys Cooper.1.5 pts win. Available at 9/1.

    8.30 - Wolverhampton - Miracle Garden. 1 pt e/w. Available at 10/1.

    If this helps today

The going at Exeter is now good to soft, soft in places (from soft, good to soft in places). Race distances have increased with races 1,2,5 and 7 over an additional 80 yards, races 3 and 4 over an extra 40 yards and race 6 over 140 yards further

Yesterday finished in profit when Nouvelle Ere responded well to pressure to win at Chelmsford. Miracle Garden suffered interference at the start at Wolverhampton and endured a nightmare passage after. He looks one to keep on the right side of in his next few starts. Red Admirable was a non runner when the racing at Huntingdon was abandoned due to high winds.

    Today's Selections:

3.50 - Exeter - West Of The Edge. 3 pts win. Available at 7/2. (Nap)
This will be the first time in the past four seasons that the Devon National hasn't been run on soft or heavy ground. It will still be a stiff test of stamina with staying being the name of the game. Many of the usual suspects turn up and some of them are well weighted on their past efforts. Some are also down in class. Last March Spookydooky wasn't beaten far in the Midlands National and runs from 15 pounds lower in the weights here. He will be a big threat to all if he returns to anything like that level of form. Although supporting a favourite in a race like this rarely appeals, it'#s hard to ignore the chances of West Of The Edge. He is now on a career high mark but he looks a better horse since he joined Dr Richard Newland. He has won both his starts over fences and was only just beaten returned to hurdles last time out. He tanked through that race and was only found out in the closing stages. Heavy ground and coming just seven days after his previous run may have been contributing factors and he has been given a break since. He still has potential as a stayer under his present tutelage and this stiffer test could unlock further improvement. Sam Twiston-Davies, who does well for this yard, returns to the saddle.

    4.00 - Lingfield - Shyron. 1.5 pts win. Available at 8/1. (Nb)

    4.45 - Warwick - Shanroe Santos. 2 pts win. Available at 6/1.

4.55 - Exeter - Muffins For Tea. 1.5 pts win. Available at 8/1.

Sir Note (4.20) jumps for fun, has his ideal conditions, should relish this step up in trip and ought to see off a very iffy fav, today.

Yesterday finished in profit when Shanroe Santos was successful at Warwick.

    Today's Selections:

    1.15 - Kempton - Rainy City. 1 pt e/w. Available at 11/1.
Competitive stuff with only twelve pounds separating the thirteen runners on Official Ratings. Even the rank outsiders hold some sort of claim but slight preference is for the topweight, Rainy City. On jockey bookings he appears to be the second string to Coastal Tiep but it may just be a case of connections wanting to ease his burden of being at the head of the weights. Over the past thirteen months he has returned a string of good performances and has shown himself to be slowly progressive in the process. He needs decent ground, which he will get today, and he has proved himself effective between 17 and an extended 23 furlongs. Today's five pound claimer was on board when the partnership went down by just under two lengths against Templeross last September and the winner has impressively upheld that form on several occasions subsequently. After a quiet January, which is normal, the yard are back in form.

    2.45 - Newcastle:
Alto Des Mottes. 1 pt e/w. Available at 14/1.
Portrait King. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 18/1.
It's unlikely that this field will ever have a more severe stamina test than they will face here. Four miles and half a furlong in very testing ground on a stiff track will be a war of attrition and it has 'bottomed' more than one horse in the past. Irish raider, Portrait King, is now well into veteran status at twelve years old but he has taken in this race on three previous occasions, winning once in 2012. He was well beaten in 2015 but was third last season from a one pound higher mark than he runs from today. He has been kept to hurdles for three of his four starts this season and his best effort in that sphere came last time out in heavy ground over an extended three miles at Ayr. Prior to that he had produced his best performance of the campaign on his only excursion over fences. He wasn't given a hard time in finishing a sixteen length sixth of the twenty two runners in the Becher Chase at Aintree and this race looks to be one of his major targets for the season. He still seems to retain all of his ability and represents a yard who have a 17% strike rate yielding a l.s.p of £50 with their Chasers on these shores in recent seasons. Alto Des Mottes is only a seven year old with just nine starts over fences to his name. He has won two of those races and both were over the extended 23 furlongs at this track in soft/heavy ground. His win over hurdles was also over the same trip on a stiff track (Hexham) and he went close over 30 furlongs in the North Yorkshire National at Catterick in January last year. He is out of a Dam who is a Sister to a four and a half mile Cross Country winner so he is bred for extreme tests. He is only two pounds higher than he was at Catterick so he is weighted to get competitive and he represents a yard who have a profitable 24% strike rate (4 from 17) with their Chasers here in recent seasons.

3.35 - Kempton - Irish Saint. 3 pts win. Available at 5/1. (Nap)
The best handicap of the day comes in the form of the Betbright Chase at Kempton, worth £100K. Given the prize on offer it's a bit bewildering that only thirteen go to post but it's still a very good contest and it will take a top performance from something to prevail. Opening Batsman seems to save his best for this track and, along with Aso, is tempting at a double figure price. Double Shuffle, Viva Steve, Fingerontheswitch, Three Musketeers, Ballykan and Theatre Guide all have recent form that gives them good chances but the one that could trump them all is the Paul Nicholls trained Irish Saint. He was a good Novice Chaser back in 2014/15 and makes just his fourth start here after missing last season. He has yet to produce his best in handicap company but there's little doubt that he is well weighted judged on the balance of his Novice form. He ended up well beaten at Sandown last time out but the way he travelled into the latter stages suggested he is a horse who is ahead of the handicapper. The stiff finish at that track and the soft ground did for him in the end but connections are persevering with the trip and, if he doesn't get it here, he won't see it out anywhere. The faster ground will help his cause and he will get every assistance from the saddle. He is 3 from 3 at this track and, if he sees this out, he can prove that he is the best horse in the race at the weights.

    3.40 - Chepstow - Gayebury. 2 pts win. Available at 13/2.

    4.30 - Newcastle - Eastview Boy. 2 pts win. Available at 13/2.

Tavener in the lucky last at Wolves.

Overpriced. Running well and hopefully this step back up to 7 will suit. Has shown up well at the course before and has no weight here.

At 18/1 there's too much in his favour.

Now I've seen the first race, moreover, what was required; I'm going to put up Triolo DAlene e/w and an e/w double with Gevrey Chambetin.
