Tomorrow's jump card not that appealing.

Newcastle hosts a few all weather flat handicaps. I'll look at those later.

Marbs - Another great set of picks with risk advised

    - the first one Lygon rock - I dont know whether the penny dropped with the horse after about 2.5 miles or the jock couldn't get him going till then, but was finishing relatively well, winner was on a different level tho The other two you were abs bang on, just ran into ones better, millie wannacott factor working well too. The last one defo for tracker

    Thanks Geoff.

I've studied the english racing tomorrow, both flat and jumps, at Newcastle, Lingfield and Wetherby. I take back my earlier comment about the quality of racing at Wetherby. It's better than what I first thought.

    Wetherby 2.05

There's a short priced favorite in the shape of the John Hales horse trained by Dan Skelton. Won very nicely last time but gone up a load in the weights, while leading opponent Eragone only went up 1lb after an excellent first run in england behind the highly rated chaser of Kim Baileys called First Flow. So on the maths. Eragone is very well handicapped on the last days run. I can't quite get my around why he's 6/1. The horse is trained by Micky Hammond and not Dan Skelton maybe?

3.10 Ecossias looks like he's really improving since a wind operation not that long ago. He bids to land a hat trick and at fair odds I'm happy to back him to do it.

    Lingfield 2.50

Mrytie Laclagan (e/w) is worth speculating on in his second handicap start for top trainer Mark Johnston. There's not a lot to go on but I wasn't keen on anything else in the race, so at 12/1 or thereabouts Myrtie Maclagan is worth a go. Any market move would increase my confidence.

First one interesting, Hammond is a bit of a course specialist - always has one or two winners at wetherby. Is a bogey track for me that I just cannot ever get right,, so the minimum bar is always which hammond runners to pick so thanks I'll have a go on that one !

Tawny Port 5.00N 4 from 6 at today's distance, pulled too hard in his 2 recent runs over 6f.
    11/2 in places

That 4N race is fairly hot (all relative to Tuesday afternoon AW race ), I c where you coming from reet with the selection - DoR is a obv fav to beat but I fancy Gunmetal this time from the outside draw, was finishing well last time @ c&d I seem to remember

I can never get Micky Hammond right but do keep an eye on last minute betting on his horses. He seems to get a spate of winners and then go quiet for a while. Fond memories of holidays at Middleham, watching his string go past our B&B at the crack of dawn. The sound of the horses hooves on the cobbles being a nice thing to wake up to.

This has drifted to 12s now, which is almost an each way price, albeit in a seven runner race.

    Volatile markets indeed.

I think Eragone had that race won the way it travelled so well throughout until falling at the second last. We can count ourselves a bit unlucky there.

Nicely done again, Reet. You've got Tawny Port running for you soon aswell.

I think I will stick to the jumps!

I rarely follow a horse who I backed when it won ages ago, but I see Allardyce is running in the 1:50 at Naas. If he retains his ability he would have a good chance.

I fancy Siberian Star in the 3.20 at Naas who could prove ahead of the handicapper.

At Plumpton in the 2.30, Hedgeinator is a big price at 20/1. He's getting older but lightly raced with a good win strike rate of 25 percent, (4/16). He could be the type to bounce back from a poor run after pulling up first time out this season.

Looks a bit of value the way he won last time

If you watch the replay of the race Energumene won at Gowran the camera angle is not ideal as they go down the back straight but when it's straight on you can see the Mullins horse jump out to his right on occasion. For that reason I think he's work taking on today and so I've backed the Captain at 2s.
