A horse DO mentioned for the St Wilfred, Hyperfocus just won at Haydock. Beating my fancy and stablemate Danzan in the process! I hope someone backed Hyperfocus.

Not me. I've been too busy sorting out tomorrow's cards. I couldn't even have told you it was running.

As you say, though, I do hope somebody remembered it and got on.

Yes, a lot of action tomorrow, I can see why you started studying early.

There's only really one horse I want to give a good shout. Calling The Wind (Haydock 2.50) in the Old Borough Cup looks really interesting as he was second to Sky Defender a few runs ago who has franked the form well since.

Calling The Wind has only actually been seen twice on turf, with one of those runs being his last win against Rajinsky. I think he was quite impressive that day against Rajinsky. You'd hope he has been doing well at home since, and in what is a massively open race, Calling The Wind might just be heading into this race with a bit in hand over his official mark. I can see him out running odds of 20/1 for sure.

Now that Dream of Dreams has drifted to 10/3 I think he's worth an interest in the Sprint Cup. Not a big bet though, I've doubled him with Siskin tomorrow.

Accidental Agent is off a big mark today but obv it's his favourite track and 20/1 for 5 places is very acceptable.

Gulliver 3.40A was a narrowly beaten 2nd in a classy Curragh handicap when not quite lasting home over 6.5f on similar ground to today. Well drawn in that contest, he's pulled out another plum today, and looks a good ew punt to go one better.
    12/1 Hills & b365.
Not much pace in the 2.30 @ Ascot, but Pretty In Grey has shown she can quicken in steadily run 7f contests, yet today's stiff 1m should suit he admirably.
    5/1 generally.

Two cracking handicaps at Stratford today
4.10 Shoal Bay can win this from the front if jumping a bit better than last time out. Tizzard stable in fine form now and that wasn’t the case then.

4.45 Valentino Dancer should outrun his odds here. A decent 3rd behind Brandon Castle last time out beaten 6l in receipt of just 1lb. That one’s now rated 140 and the selection races off 124 today with the rider taking a useful 3lb off. 16/1 looks decent value

I should say, having followed Rajinsky the last two or three times, that I thought at the respective prices, having beaten Rajinsky, that Calling The Wind is good each way value today.

It also dawned on me that perhaps Rajinsky had an extremely hard race the last day, and it will be a really gutsy display to win today after York. His second to that Mark Johnston horse looked like a brutal dual. I will be very impressed if Rajinsky can put in a similar performance.

I'll put this one down (or up) before I forget.

    Tuesday

    Newton Abbot

2.40 Some Chaos is a very interesting horse to be running in a handicap hurdle. He showed excellent chase form between 2018/2019 but the last jumps season he didn't do a lot, in fact it appeared he went backwards.

Having had three runs in novice hurdles I am keen to support Some Chaos in a handicap hurdle off an opening mark of 120. He ran okay in those novice hurdles, and I guess I feel it's case of 'form is temporary, class is permament'. We'll see how he's priced if he runs on Tuesday. I am hoping as many stand their ground as possible, to at least ensure Some Chaos is a fair price.

Diligent Lady 4.30W skated home in a well run c/d novice on her 2nd start, recording a high s/f in the process. Hasn't lasted home on 2 stiffer tracks since, but gets the chance to show her speed again today.

Fell out of the stalls;ran green & last most of the way, picked up and finished 3rd @11/1. Phew!
Sharp track & faster ground, she'll do OK, sometime soon.

I've got a couple of these wrong recently but I can make excuses for them so I'm already creating an excuse bank for Star Of Emaraaty tomorrow in the 2.10.

I have heavily availed myself each-way of the 12/1 on offer as I was worried if it would be a backable price. I was seriously anticipating 6/4 or shorter.

It's top-rated on ORs and RPRs and I have it miles clear on my time ratings. And I mean MILES.

I would seriously consider upsetting Slim by putting it on his Will Win thread but I have allowed discretion to get the better part of valour and shat out out of going win-only, so it's a hefty each-way bet but I'll still be seriously disappointed if this one doesn't hack up.

    And I mean hack up.

And for good measure the double with Yazaman, another good thing, in the sales race will pay 59/1.

    Edit to add:

To say I'm balls deep in these is meaningless as I'm a midget but you get my drift.

It's a relatively quiet betting day for me but one I'm very much looking forward to.

I do have a lot involved in the aforementioned 2yos but compared with last weekend when I had bets in something like ten races today is quiet.

I hope Logician does enough for bookies to take him seriously for the Arc and with Zaaki out I could probably ride him to victory. I'm tempted to look at the winning distance market. I can see him being asked to stretch in the last couple of furlongs at this trip.

I'm very tempted by the 6/4 on offer about Believe In Love. She totally destroyed a decent field last time. They gave it as soft that day but my time ratings are arrived at via a minus going allowance pointing to good ground at worst. Maybe there was a stronger tailwind than described. I think they also went very fast on the day. The first three at the finish were among the last four early in the race. Entangling was detached in last being niggled on and off by Turner. She got to the winner's quarters about two out but was ultimately beaten over 17 lengths. Mondain was held up too and tried to follow the winner through the race but was left for dead as well.

Whether Believe In Love could have found more had she been asked a more serious question - she was really only shaken up - is a bit of an unknown but her RPRs this season read 73, 79, 80, 96, 101, 112 and the comments in her most recent three read, "comfortably", "readily" and "easily, impressive". Plot those figures on a graph and you'd be forgiven for thinking you were looking at something to do with coronavirus cases this week.

With Alpinista out she really only has Monica Sheriff to beat and while the latter is an admirable filly and fancied by many good judges for the Ebor, I can't really fancy her to give Believe In Love a serious race.

I think she is an odds-on shot all day long and again might look at the winning distance market.
