Staged on BBC1 with David Tennant and Michael Sheen, worth it for the guest stars particularly Dame Judy who shows them all how to do it.

There were three episodes I think - I’ve recorded it, not watched yet. Used to go to Salisbury a lot when I was there, should be mighty interesting. If they’ve done half as good a job of this as itv did with “manhunt” it will be brilliant

I thought it was excellent. A friend works in the Nat West Bank where the policeman’s wife works and he said the actress’s portrayal of her was brilliant right down to her mannerisms.
When you watch it, you realise how incredible it was that so few got affected. It had the potential to devastate the city.

Like Chernobyl I found it difficult to know who was who and what was happening, which is, I suppose, the way it was when it all kicked off. Both series have been well received so perhaps I should have paid more attention.

I feared it might have been 'dramatised' a bit; but no, it was pleasingly understated and I thought the sympathetic portrayal of the down-on-their-luck couple who found the poison in a perfume bottle was particularly good. Fine acting all round

Yes but policeman will always suffer problems I think as will the boyfriend of the woman who died especially mentally.

Three as Trudi says. Well worth a watch.

Watching Coldplay 2016 ( really? ) at Glastonbury. I was completely non fussed by them before this, and then couldn't stop watching this back for weeks after. Just fabulous.

Always liked Coldplay right from their early tunes like Yellow, The Scientist, Clocks etc. so I also watched them again tonight. Fix You will always be a special tune for me as well.

Chris Martin seems like such a lovely, decent down to earth fella, not many of us about

Coldplay’s cover of the Viola Beach ( RIP) song Boys That Sing is wonderful, and such a wonderful memorial to the band who died so tragically not long before.

I didn’t mind Coldplay before then, but they totally won me over with that gesture.

Brilliant film, well docudrama on C4(I think) Thursday “Touching the Void”. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend. I bought the book a couple of years before the film and was blown away by that and the film does it credit. Incredible true story.

That reminds me - the BBC have been showing the remade Alan Bennett Talking Heads things. Very good.

Jodie Comer was very good on Talking Heads last night. She's the only reason that I kept half an eye on the last series of Killing Eve, which is really quite silly now - and how did Sandra Oh win an award? She has one slightly startled expression on her face at all times, awful actor.

I'm not sure I would be able to watch it. At my age I don't want to watch anything harrowing on TV. Life is harrowing enough.

Jack O'Connell is a patron of our local indie cinema, which, due to covid I won't be able to attend for the foreseeable future even when it reopens. We do retain our membership, though. He introduced this film when it was first shown. Unfortunately it came out round about the same time as another POW film starring Colin Firth and was somewhat overshadowed. Of course, it was adapted from a book by Laura Hillenbrand [of Seabiscuit fame] so it was always going to be good. I did try to read the book but gave up on it; much heavier than Seabiscuit which is, imo, one of the best books ever written. Maybe I should try again. He's a brilliant actor and Jolie is underrated as well [imo]. The late, great John Hurt was our other patron. He came after Alan Bates !

She was utterly brilliant. Such a talent at a relatively young age.

I watch Killing Eve more out of habit now. The beauty of the first series was not knowing if Eve was going to be killed. Jodie Comer was also in The White Princess, a series I enjoyed after watching The White Queen. I love that period of history, even more so after staying at Middleham a few times [what I'd give to go back there...].
