I was at Aintree for that Melling Chase- Sprinter followed by Cue Card followed by Flemenstar and not to forget dear old Finians Rainbow with McCoy on board behind them
I wonder if...
Flemenstar retired, didn't quite fulfill the promised potential but his novice and second season chasing career was an exciting time, that Lexus was one of the great races and what a jumper of a...
Rivet sold to race in Hong Kong
Similar scenario to his old man, although Pour Moi never raced again after his Derby.
I must admit that it's an aspect of our sport that I've always been uncomfortable with
Mad Moose was a classic recent example, if a horse doesn't want to race, then don't race it,right?
Sole Power retired. Apparently he was good on straight courses without obstacles.
Sounds weird.
A super racehorse and an absolute credit to Eddie Lynam, ability wise he probably went on...
Was a talking horse early on but eventually justified it in the autumn of his career
He deserved his Gold Cup win but The Melling chase of 2 years ago was a masterpiece.
Tough time for the stable having lost Glingerburn last season too
:(
Yes it truly has been a desperate few days for the sport
I see Freddy's fundraiser is in excess of a 125k now, Bless him and his family.
It was to do with when Godolphin had a bit of a re-jig a year or 2 back- New jockeys, horses with different trainers and princess Haya's horses running in her husbands colours.
David Wachman is to hand his training licence in at the end of the season.
That's a real shame
I remember his debut(think it was Fairyhouse) smashed off the boards all morning but was well held until the front 2 fell at the last. No superstar but I'd wager he was very...
He did seem to drop away very quickly as if something was amiss
Very sad news :(

That's an absolute shitter
He looked a real star a Kelso last season
Fine journalist,very sad news.
Sadly, yes.
Paul Nolan's Defy Logic pts after an injury on the gallops.
He's earned it
Man he didnt deserve to get pipped at Aintree like that!
You are probably right Grass but I doubt if they could resist one last crack at the GN next year if he showed them he was still well next season.
It didn't look good for him whilst watching the race (Balbriggan that is) but as it wasn't put up on here I had thought he might be ok
No such luck :(
Grand Crus retired
That 2011 stayers was a fine battle but judging on his performances in the last year clearly just not enjoying the game anymore.
My abiding memory of him will be getting beaten in a thriller off a Ryan Moore wonder ride.
:(
On a slightly less important note I do wonder from time to time how he would have got on in 2012 CH...I had him in an ante post double with Spirit at 10/1 and Sprinter Sacre at 10/1
