I’ve had a problem with backing Irish National winners for the National ever since I told everyone to back Point Barrow many years ago. I really do need to get out of certain mindsets.

I think it痴 called Aldaniti syndrome.
Oh hell that was awful. My first thought was that he’d injured himself in the first fall.
What are the chances that some horses will be withdrawn on the day and there won’t even be 34 runners?
It’s awful when jockeys have to retire before they’re ready to do so: unsettling mentally as much as physically. I wish him well for the future.
Yes. That was a sickener. Didn’t he do well though under a big weight. Derek Fox seems to be riding and schooling a lot of Adam’s horses at the moment. Hoping that Wise Eagle can win his...
I told someone not to back Silver Birch (she liked the name…)
Which will end up with a racing certainty on the day like Earth Summit or a complete fluke like Red Marauder!
I would imagine that a change in exercise routine due to illness could cause problems with a horses digestive system. But I’m only going by my experience with my ‘ poor man’s racehorse’ ie my...
Thanks Outsider!
When I used to work I always took a weeks holiday for Cheltenham week, it was the highlight of my year. But I wouldn’t now. Not sure if it’s because I no longer go there for one day as I used to.
I tend to forget that Dan Skelton came to our racing club meeting and told us at the start of his career that Kauto was much better going right handed.
That’s all very well if you go there year to year but if you’re a first time festival goer you’ll go with the whole ticket and parking package. It took us years to find a better alternative car park.
What to advise a music mad relative who’s at Cheltenham today? I’ve suggested Jungle Boogie, Harmonya Maker and Sonigino after not mentioning The Jukebox Man in the last.
Some of my bets have come out so I値l slip in By Your Side who was next on the list anyway. I致e already backed Petit Tonniere along with Afadil, Faiviour, Media, and Sam something or other. Missed...
I see that my favourite horse in training, Mr Freedom is blue on oddschecker. Annoyed that I didn’t back him last night. Much as I’ve found this years festival disappointing it would all be turned...
My top rated horse in the race. Painful.
Ken Pitterson picked out Romeo Coolio so I was hoping it would hold on.
My list was, Hardy, Gemirande, Frere, Unexpected, Liberty and then Calico in that order and I backed all of them. Quite chuffed because I only looked at the race ten minutes before the start.
Must be the first time I haven’t backed Captain Guinness! Always think back to how unlucky he was to have been brought down in the Supreme all those years ago. I hated it when they interviewed...
Would Henderson keep his mares separate from the geldings ie might any virus not affect them? Then again they’ll still be travelling together Isuppose.
I think you’ll have a wonderful day. And your dad will be with you in spirit.
We’re still getting emails from Cheltenham trying to get us to buy tickets. Don’t think this has ever happened before.
Maybe it’s a different place to the one you’re talking about! We used to park in someone’s back garden just past the racecourse. They used to do posh meals for people (well, posh by my standards!) in...
We used to park there. It was a great spot. You have to get there early, though, as it’s very popular.
