Great horse, and we'll never know how great a hurdler he might have been - his 2014 season suggested he was very good. But he was a proper chaser anyway, and glad he has been retired in good health.

And Golden Cygnet didn't actually run in a CH, so wasn't actually tested. Bird's Nest might be a good shout as the best horse not to win a CH - rated 176.

Pretty sure Cheltenham did take action after we lost so many at one festival. I think they have always had a policy of watering since that fatal year, just to ensure safe jumping and landing ground.

Just happy that he retired in one piece. Wonderful memories - I shed genuine tears when he won last season's QMCC.
