Olly Murphy made interesting point at the betfair preview and his fear about novices was that they didnt have enough experience and basically saying that the top jump races in ireland are much more...
that was a great race by the proper definition of what a great race - as in one that will live in the memory - maybe the form is not top notch but can anyone say that for certain if samcro and melon...
yes that's a bonkers comment. it's a proper test, with proper fences. you're presumably getting muddled by the camera views and angles around the last; maybe the last could be laid out better. but...
i love djakadam
four times in first five in chelt gold cup
four second places in the punchestown equivalent
willie rightly gets criticism for being hard on horses at times but djak has been...
WOW
what a fantastic race that was; Next Destination beating two good Cheltenham winners. Proper pace and pulled way clear of the pack.
that's a bit of a leap, you surely can't take Aintree as the true running of balko des flos
surely just a textbook case of a horse still feeling effects of chelt
he finished 13 lengths behind...
Dreadful. Obviously a freak thing that can happen any horse I guess..but something wasn't quite right with that horse all year, you'd wonder if there was an undetected weakness there
and there goes the best novice down to run at the meeting
disappointing but probably more hepful to wpm with trainers title at home in mind
sorry if i didnt make it clear but that was my point too
better ground suits road to riches ..and alpha
wouldnt fancy either in a bog
really good stuff below
road to riches is fascinating alright because he's arguably the best horse in the race if they all ran to their peak
fear is that he's gone at the game, not convinced...
The Munirs making Mullins run Footpad aside...the absence of real Mullins and Elliot stars in the entries is striking. Min is entered too.
Elliott doesnt appear to have anything bar a few bumper...
footpad seems to run but irish trainer championships might rule out most of mullins and elliott horses
its strange one as i know mullins/elliott domination ruined cheltenham for some
but surely...
this is definitely a very valid question. surprised a few more trainers didnt pull horses out too. to be fair to giggi they did the right thing by the gamechanger and would respect trainers that...
the worst ground of the week today has allowed the english to dominate to be fair
especially when trainer has reputation for not being able to bring horses back...which isnt an unfair criticism at times..but he's done a hell of a job to keep him going from 4
two best horses out front all the way, top class. it won't go down as a vintage gold cup but i think those two would compete in most eras racing like that. delighted for tizzard.
have to say...
another winner that was said to prefer better ground
irish form miles ahead...again
Striking but lot of mullins horses clustered in certain races - ran a fair few in mares novice when he had guaranteed winner
Those mudlarks like balko, penhill, storyteller, Percy got lucky
Lols what about last year
yes and thats a problem for handicapper. time will not prove storyteller to be best horse in the Flogas...much as he was definitely learning the game there but there were better horses ahead of...
they have so much ammo that a lot of their stable lesser lights are well handicapped...storyteller was a plot job for sure but he's prob not a grade 1 horse...but some of the other handicappers are...
it may be boring to some but hasnt it changed a bit of the dynamic because there was a time where people wondered if trials in ireland were of any use and now its the other way as a lot of the better...
there were no irish horses at ascot mate
that said waiting patiently is a bloody machine
but your comment is a bit out of sync with the week
