Bits and Pieces

Captain Howse

How would you fancy your chances backing a horse with the record:

16/16 @ 200/1
9/10 @ 250/1
11/11 @ 300/1
12/12 @ 300/1

All Maiden and Novice races over 1 mile bar one at 1 mile 2 furlongs.

He is trained by Sir Mark Prescott Bt who loves a first handicap coup, but it didn’t quite come off at Bath yesterday. Up massively in trip to 1 mile 6 furlongs he bounced along in the front two, but Luke Morris had to start working hard on him four furlongs out to get him into the lead. All looked fine until under two furlongs out when Vaynor swept past with some ease.

For some reason given his record Captain Howse started at 5/1, but the bookies know Sir Mark of old.

I wrote precisely about this on my own blog, BJ.

I have to say that I think the other day was the plan but the horse looks like a right ol' rogue, don't you think?

Wouldn't be carrying any of my money in future. on that evidence.

Yes, Luke Morris was working fit to bust on him from early on.

    Out again today and fav.

Would you want to back him @ 3/1?

No from me. He looks like he's got his own ideas about racing. Might be worth taking him on in the race, though, to get some value elsewhere.
