3:00 History Writer (NAP, Each Way) can finish in the first four. He is a right handed specialist so should like Goodwood, was gelded over the winter, then ran a career best at Sandown when winning by two lengths beating some excellent yardsticks. He's still on a very good mark and may have actually been mapped out for this race for a long time.

4:40 Prince Of Arran (NB) has that all important top-class handicap form which you can't underestimate even when comparing it to the group form of other horses. He returns from a break after finishing a fine third in the Melbourne Cup, so I'll take that form to trump the rest of them. He's another huge price who could run into a place against a very short priced odds-on favourite.
