  1. Day 2

After a bonza day yesterday I can be carefree today. It’s not my favourite day, though, so I reckon I’ll do more watching than betting

1:30 - can’t see past Ballyburn, particularly after Slade Steel’s performance yesterday. Will be no price, though , so I’ll watch and admire. How Henderson’s Jingko Blue goes will be informative for Jonbon’s chances later on.

2:10 - I’ll stay with Stay Away Fay albeit more in hope than conviction. I don’t think Giovinco is in this class ...

  2. Cheltenham Wednesday 13th March 2024

    So.

My only bet on day one, as you know, was Apple Away, a horse that I backed Ew ante post at 20/1. Strange thing to say, and maybe you know where I'm coming from, I just didn't feel confident on the day of the race. I don't know why, just a gut feeling. The good news is that, as the horse shortened dramatically over the last two days, by mid-way through the afternoon, with the price at 5/1, I realised I was being offered a cashback that was 125% my original stake. Hiya.

Here we are at the festival.

Once more we launch our foggy, hopeful deliberations onto the landscape of Prestbury Park Racecourse. And foggy they are. I'll admit that, come the day, my deliberations will have me downright flummoxed. Yes, it's guesswork, my friends, for the most part, but I'll be thrilled to be watching as the fog lifts to reveal the denouement of my Festival folly.

I only have one main bet for the first day:

    Apple ...

  4. Day 1

Well, sod the weather. I’m fed up with such rotten ground to muck things up. Can’t say I’m approaching the day with any confidence, but the racing will be good to enjoy unless the going gets absolutely bottomless.

1:30 - I’d love to think that Jeriko du Reponet could have the beating of these. He has looked impressive, but unproven at the top table. There is less to take on trust with both Tullyhill and Mystical Power (who just might be something special) and less again with Slade ...

  5. Starting to dream again.

    Well,it's almost upon us again.
It's an exciting week but the hcaps are the main point of my interest as Willie will win most races and if not with his fancied one with another.best trainer, best owners best horses but a bit boring.
The champion hurdle is poor with state man and a bunch of handicappers.
I have a few old favourites running this week and will have to back them.
HEWICK,KITTYS LIGHT, are my 2 favourite horses.

In the ultima I'm banking on STUMPSTOWN ...
