I cannot see how they can fit it all on one channel . Perhaps there will have to be a Racing UK 2 ?

I should have thought the Association of Irish Racecourses would have required that . Perhaps someone living in Ireland can tell us how much racing is on RTE still . I assume quite a lot .

ATR in big trouble with this. The standard of racing will be awful.

WOW - that is the deathnail for ATR

I like RUK coverage in general but near monopolies are not good and how much racing will be that split screen crap

I think they are left with Donny and Chepstow that i'm interested in and overall cannot be great for racing

Very bad news...they can't possibly do both as the Irish don't give a hoot about race times in progress across the water..gonna need a bigger screen

Don't live in Ireland but the answer is: hardly any! Festival meetings and the classics mainly. The coverage is great when it's on but there's not too much of it. This is a disaster for ATR, racing fans and the sport. Seems like they timed this announcement to complement the one earlier this week about international rights and GBI. This does not feel like the right direction.

Not good news for RUK subscribers either, Not the kind of operation that will absorb the increased cost.

At least we won’t have to listen to Dessie’s monotonous recitals of running order any more

and we'll be able to watch irish racing in this wondrous new invention called high definition!

it's a worrying development though, hiding more racing on tv behind a paywall

hopefully RUK branches to multiple channels to bear the load and they employ some of the better guys that are on atr such as gary o'brien and kevin blake

Des Scahill will still be commentator. He is employed by HRI, not ATR. Nothing changing on that front.

Ruby ,Ted and Robert hall seem to control RTe racing production company.
They made a very big play in changing Irish racing to RUK a few years ago with Ruby and Robert Hall (in Irish Field) singing the praises of RUK coverage for Irish racing.
RTE had a link with RUK since 2012 or 2013 for UK racing coverage before ITV took over.
Looks like the Walshs will soon control Irish racing coverage.
