amazing how most of people judge and say about gambling when almost everypeople gambles in big scale

what is a mortgage for buying a house?
    and insurence?
    Buying stocks?
    etc

life is a gamble and at least you bet on something you know about
It does annoy me. If I applied for any job now I wouldn't get past the first phase. Out of work fourteen months and no degree, clearly I'm an idiot.

I'd take you on, if you have your own shine-box.

It's all a dirty rat race
Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

You"ll need a degree for McDonalds in ten years. They're losing their value.

It's hard earned bread the pro gambler lifestyle.

Should you ever want to get back into the rat race just use home based stock trader or something similar for your time spent gambling.
My experience was that potential employers were fascinated by that particular experience.

The two most impressive things about this thread are Slim quoting Adam Smith and his response to the trolls is an instant classic.
Normally one would have expected an expletive filled response.
None of that just a "you can't please all of the people all of the time."

    Reads like Slim on Valium.

That's sound advice Brendan. Someone suggested something a along those lines, trading foreign currencies. His angle was that employers would have no idea whether you were lying or not.

The reincarnation of the will win thread or something similar will get things going around here.

It's just about the most strenous job in the world sitting watching a race when you want something to win but laying them is also tough on the nerves.

Then just when you think you are getting there BOOM!!!!!!! it's almost like someone up there hates you.

EG Yesterday I laid about 20 horses not one of them won......today I place laid (2) Berlusca Another Crick (2) and laid Union Rose..... 3 consecutive losses wiped out all yesterday's profits
