I have Mengli Khan as the 2nd part of a double with Gold Present from yesterday (major **** up, GP was 4s when I placed this and I couldn't go single at that price - didn't see the drift to 13/2 as I was at work) and I have backed Red Jack as well at his inflated price.

Iím also on Red Jack at 8ís but it makes me nervous when thereís such a discrepancy in prices across the bookies. Hopefully itís just lazy odds compiling when they saw the jockey bookings.

I've taken a bit of a sideways dash at the Royal Bond, and backed Morgan each-way at 66/1.

His strike-rate hasn't been great so far, but his form against Sayar (received 9lbs) in the Joe Mac stands a bit of scrutiny, and whilst he was comfortably despatched by Mengli Khan in the For Auction, he was again conceding 10lbs to that horse, and was never really put into the race at any stage.

I'm not really expecting him to win, as he still has to concede weight to the most of the market principals, and there's little doubt that it's a very hot race......but he might just worry the places, if he's given a more positive ride than he's been getting recently.

This is long-hand for "I haven't the first clue which horse will win".

    Fair shout, Grassy.

The look round for Mengli Khan after 3-out suggests he was only there to act as a hare for the jolly. Ah well.

Pity Early Doors made the mistake 2 out. Wouldíve made it very interesting. Winner is good and they pulled miles clear. 14/1 ew bet on Early Doors and an antepost ew for supreme at 33/1 too. No way he shouldíve been that big today after his last win.

Have come down in favour of Nicholls Canyon in the Hattons Grace. FTO record is rock-solid.

I really don't know what to make of the Royal Bond. Mengli Khan looked impressive as he did last time, and Early Doors followed him to pull well clear of the field. I thought he was well beaten despite the mistake though. Mengli Khan certainly looks the best two mile hurdler so far this season, and given his size and scope rates an exciting prospect.

Where I'm scratching my head is the performances of Le Richebourg and more particularly Red Jack. Both are clearly better than that, and Red Jack drifted in the last 24 hours as though he'd lost a leg. Unbeaten and possibly the best Bumper performer of last season, that all felt a bit strange.

Looking back at the stable form, it's not a disaster, but they don't seem to be exactly sparkling either, and neither are Joseph O'Brien's so maybe that's it.

very good from AJ. doubt she's thrown into the champion hurdle but i think the aintree hurdle would be a nice spring target for her.

Would love to see her have a crack at the Stayers. Not gonna happen though.

Wasn't quite as enthused about Death Duty than other early reactions I've read.

jumping looked a bit iffy and hurdley to me until maybe 4 out
