I used to travel the length and breadth of the country watching bands in the 90s wiyh my mrs. she was a massive metal fan I've probably seen more bands in one year than the Londoner than he's seen in a lifetime and I could name everyone..

i didnt need to travel about , although i did here and there .. i went out most nights seeing bands and my local pub was a bikers / metal pub with live bands 3 nights a week it was called the Saxon Tavern ,massive pub with a nightclub upstairs.... name the bands you followed, we might have crossed paths lol
