    Student racing days in Ireland

Anyone experienced these? I see that a Sligo meeting that I'd like to do is a designated student day. Is it likely to be bearable?

If you like fake tans and long legs you're fine.

In truth they are high energy and good craic without the usual bad excesses you see at Aintree and Ascot.

We may as well be very honest

    No one likes students

Oddly enough, the meeting is pretty well on the 50th anniversary of the day that I became a university student.

Very very loud, you are unlikely to hear racecourse announcement.
Quite enjoyable otherwise but why young ladies have to wear high heels is beyond me.

It rained all day but fair play to the kids, they scrubbed up pretty well and had a good time without upsetting anyone else.

This was the middle leg of my racing road trip last week:
Monday - Bus from Dublin airport to Roscommon where a mixed meeting took place in bright sunshine. Pleasant little track.
Tuesday - Roscommon to Sligo via Claremorris by train and bus.
Wednesday - Sligo races. All chase card in the rain. Great viewing track with a graveyard across the road.
Thursday - Sligo to Leighlinbridge via Dublin by train. The usual excellent pint of Guinness in Ryan's of Parkgate Street on the way through Dublin.
Friday - Stable visit followed by Gowran Park (where Supreme had the bumper winner) then back to Dublin airport.

    Hard work but good fun.
