    Newmarket July Meeting

Thought this would be worth its own thread.

I'll throw a selection into the mix for discussion - Enjazaat in the July Stakes. Hard to know what he achieved last time but trainer says better ground will suit and 14/1 looks worth a go for such an impressive LTO winner. Cliche but he could be anything.

I also find it hard to see past Atty Perse in the first. Made mincemeat of a competitive Royal Ascot handicap and looks well up to this.

I thought Golden Apollo's win last time, when he just kept finding near the finish, was a bit special. I hope to see more of it today.

Top weight won't faze Unabated (3.00) and his jockey thinks he could be top class. @ 16/1with 4 places, it might be worth a punt to find out.

Simon Rowlands just tweeted this if it helps anybody

"Just under 165.0s for the strongly-run opener at Newmarket July Festival. Plenty of juice in the ground by the look of it."

I reckon Golden Apollo will reverse that form if he meets Roger Varians horse again.

    Brando -25/1 in a place-might be a value bet.

In the Falmouth, Wuheida hasn’t been seen since taking the Marcel Boussac and is clear best on her OR for that performance. She holds entries in the Sussex, Nassau and Yorkshire Oaks and there has to be a chance this mile will be a bit sharp for her this season. However, can she be opposed and if so with what?

Take her out and it’s anyone’s race.

I have Sea of Grace a bet in the Falmouth Maurice. The step back up to a mile should suit, and she finished well ahead of Roly Poly in France. I also agree that Wuheida may need further to be at her best, and as you say she has the absence to overcome.

The one I like as an ew bet in the race is Greta G. Royal Ascot looked a bit of sighter for something else to me, and when I can find sufficient doubt about the credentials of almost everything in the race 16/1 strikes me as a nice ew bet.

I've followed your advice on Greta G Paul. Good luck.

Cracking ride from Adam Kirby on Harry Angel - completely ignored the Coolmore pacemaker and dominated the pace to suit his own mount, turning around form with Caravaggio by over 4l from Ascot.

I knew someone had mentioned this one, just wasn't sure where. Great run and great shout, Luke.
