Comments made yesterday that though Main Desire is by High Chaparral she is pretty fast, and then comment made that her bottom half is fast. Well it is but the real source of speed seems to be Breeder's Cup winner Orientate who is the damsire. The grand-dam sire is Danzig who can of course impart a lot of speed but has sons and daughters who are producing horses that stay a fair bit. If you look at the great grand-dam then she is a mare called Relaxing, who was Broodmare of the Year in the USA through her son Easy Goer who was a champion 2yo as well as winning the Belmont Stakes: in addition to being 2nd in the other 2 legs of the Triple Crown. Relaxing (Buckpasser)and her dam (by a stallion called To Market who won over 10f) are stoutly bred enough.

So how far will she stay? Well I'd be surprised if she didn't get 6 furlongs and maybe a bit further. Against her is her size as she's pretty compact. Will be interesting to see how she develops.

I'd forgotten all about Reckless Abandon, I'd imagine he won't have many runners if he was firing blanks in his first season at stud.

The date that foal was born on.

Did mention it earlier in the thread, I think.

It's thought by some to be important - if you look at Milton Road above, he arrived on the eighth of June so he isn't actually two years old yet.

The events in Manchester put into perspective the triviality that horse-racing is.

But, there was a first winner for FSS LETHAL FORCE yesterday, Queen Of Kalahari taking the Leicester 6.05.

    Just one runner today:

RED JAZZ - Arabian Jazz (25.3) a running on second on her second and latest attempt, yesterday's winner Queen Of Kalahari was half a length back in third.

Chookie Dunedin (Ayr 2.20) a winner for FSS EPAULETTE yesterday.

    Today:

    Catterick 1.50

SWISS SPIRIT - Time Trail (2.4) game winner on debut at Beverley May 1st., of those behind quite a few have run but there has only been the one winner, Luis Fernandez.

    Catterick 2.20

LETHAL FORCE - Angel Force (20.2) showed promise on debut, after slow start kept on for seventh place in a race that looks decent.

SOCIETY ROCK - Kikini Bamalaam (15.3) showed some speed on his latest outing when four lengths fifth behind the useful Black Orange at Ripon.

SOCIETY ROCK - Mayfair Rock (15.2) out of a Danetimqe mare and a half-sister to two winners, one of them quite useful.

    Goodwood 2.00

SWISS SPIRIT - Kick On Kick On (14.3) a good winner on debut at Leicester , the value of that form is yet to be established.

    Tipperary 5.40

TOUGH AS NAILS - Early Call (7.5) out of a King Charlemagne mare who, to date, has produced two moderate maidens.

TOUGH AS NAILS - My Silver Nails (1.4) already had four runs, has been mostly consistent if somewhat moderate.

    Sandown 6.30 Listed National Stakes

DAWN APPROACH - Haddaf (1.2) slightly disappointing on his second and latest run, expected to step up on a very promising debut but had to settle for a close-up third.

HAVANA GOLD - Havana Grey (12.2) quickened to win comfortably on his latest run at Ayr, the form is yet to be franked and may not be up to much.

Winners yesterday for SWISS SPIRIT (Time Trail) and HAVANA GOLD (Havana Grey).

    Today's runners:

    Bath 2.10

SOCIETY ROCK - So Hi Society (15.2) out of a Spectrum mare and a half-sister to a useful winner.

    Bath 2.45

SOCIETY ROCK - Fab (2.3) out of a Dubai Destination mare and a half-sister to three moderate to useful winners.

    Bath 3.55

SWISS SPIRIT - Erastus (29.4) 25/1 and showed little on debut at Lingfield (turf).

LETHAL FORCE - Prince Of The Dark (23.2) first foal of a Red Clubs mare.

DAWN APPROACH - Sunbreak (11.2) out of Carry On Katie, herself a Group 1 winner as a 2-y-o, and a half-brother to two winners, the better of those Vocational (RPR 104).

    Goodwood 2.00

RECKLESS ABANDON - Wild State (24.2) out of a Selkirk mare and a half-brother to three winners.

LETHAL FORCE - Butterfly Spirit (27.3) 66/1 on debut at Kempton, keen and then hampered in running finishing 5th. of 6.

LETHAL FORCE - Milchik (20.4) 40/1 on debut in the same Kempton race showed some speed before finishing last of the six.

SOCIETY ROCK - Mother Of Dragons (26.4) did well on debut,at Windsor, to finish second to Yogi's Girl who went on to frank the form when winning at Chester; Daddie's Girl, fourth in the Windsor race has also won since.

    Haydock 2.55

LETHAL FORCE - Hard Graft (16.4) is the first foal of a Rudimentary mare.

    Leopardstown 6.00

I think this is the first seven furlong race for 2-y-os this year and the highly thought of Frankel colt Rostropovich makes his entrance. He is out of a Machiavellian mare and is a half-brother to six winners including Zoffany, a high class miler at three and winner of the Phoenix Stakes as a 2-y-o.

There is a FSS represented - DECLARATION OF WAR has War Hero running, he is out of a High Chaparral mare and is a half-brother to one winner.

    Pontefract 7.30

HAVANA GOLD - Havana Star (21.1) overcame greenness, dwelt and went left start and hung badly left close home but still managed to win on debut at Beverley. The form is yet to be franked.

EPAULETTE - City Guest (27.3) missed break and showed little after when making debut at Yarmouth.

LETHAL FORCE - Situation (4.4) out of a Nureyev mare and a half-brother to three useful winners.

FINJAAN - Squirrelheed (19.4) out of a Bluebird mare and half-brother to two winners, one of them useful.

Prince Of The Dark looked a useful winner for FSS LETHAL FORCE at Bath yesterday.

On the other hand Rostropovich didn't run up to expectations at Leopardstown.

    Today's:

    Curragh 3.00

LETHAL FORCE - Would Be King (24.2) made favourite on debut at this course but could only manage third beaten just over two lengths by Beckford. Looks a tough race today.

    Chester 4.15

HAVANA GOLD - Headway (14.3) promising second to Gold Town on debut at Newbury coming with a strong challenge and only going down by a neck in a three-way photo.

LETHAL FORCE - Knockout Blow (14.4) showed speed to halfway then weakened into 7th. (beaten 10 lengths) behind the smart Santry.

HAVANA GOLD - Floss The Hoss (13.4) two OK runs at Beverley and Brighton, at Brighton he finished third, about four lengths behind Starlight Mystery who has won and run a good second since.

    Goodwood 2.35

RECKLESS ABANDON - Shimmy Shoes (2.3) out of a Fasilyev mare and a half-sister to a moderate maiden.

    York 4.25

RED JAZZ - Jazz Magic (25.3) out of an Alzao mare and half-brother to a winner over 5f. as a 2-y-o.

    Salisbury 5.45

LETHAL FORCE - Mokaatil (30.3) out of an Exceedand Excel mare and a half-brother to a 2-y-o winner over 5f.

CAMELOT has his first runner at Leicester, who finishes 4th (at 66/1) to a rather well bred Frankel horse, Westerland.

Another winner for SWISS SPIRIT at Lingfield with Dotted Swiss

Whie Awsaaf gives SWISS SPIRIT his secong winner of the day at Wolverhampton this evening.

These wins lift Invincible Spirit's son comfortably into 2nd place (behind Society Rock) in terms of wins.

This would be even better if Colin was doing this as he is the master.

Had to take a time out and have a rethink, too much time spent for the interest shown, so a much abbreviated format in future. I'm only going to flag up runners for the current most successful FSS, I'll also post all the FSS winners (hopefully).

Thanks to ED for keeping the pot boiling and as reported there were two winners for SWISS SPIRIT yesterday.

Top of the table is now:

    SOCIETY ROCK 7 winners
    SWISS SPIRIT 6
    HAVANA GOLD 5
    RED JAZZ 3

Today's runners for those four are:

    Beverley 2.00

    SOCIETY ROCK - Society's Dream

    Nottingham 2.20

    RED JAZZ - Marilyn M

    Kempton 7.20

    HAVANA GOLD - Anna Briggs
    RED JAZZ - Electric Landlady
