Thought Give and Take was going to give Cityscape his first winner in the first at Ascot. Nice run from a filly from the German G family, though famous in this country through the Plantation Stud (Grand Lodge and Fame and Glory, latterly Legatissimo). One to follow?

The first 4 races at Thirsk this afternoon illustrate why the FSS are finding it tough this year. The first 4 races were all 2yo races and the winner's sires were Zebedee, Kodiac, Dark Angel and Showcasing: a strong quartet and all excellent producers of 2yo winners.

    Bell Watch

As established this isn't the quality information you got from Flame. He pointed out I was often not seeing the whole gallop. So bear that in mind.

Given that First Drive won her 3rd start when ridden to come late, she must have some ability. In a gallop at the weekend First Drive ran with two other unraced fillies (Chickpea and Revived). From what I saw Chickpea, who led, was left for dead by the other 2. First Drive seemed to come out on top but Revived looks a promising filly. Both run today with Revived turning up at Goodwood with Tudhope in the plate. Will be surprised if either win but could be educational re other Bell fillies.

Another gallop saw a rather green High Chaparal colt do his stuff for the first time on camera. No possibility of rating his ability but will look out for him: name Sherrif.
