    TH Summer Tipping Competition 2016

The competition will run for 30 weeks, for the purposes of this competition a week runs from a Sunday to a Saturday, and is based on racing in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Players may join the competition at any stage and there is no penalty for missing any weeks other than losing an opportunity to score points.

Week 1 starts on Sunday March 27th (which is Easter Sunday and a week which includes the Irish Grand National meeting at Fairyhouse, a busy Bank Holiday Monday fixture list for both codes and a week which ends with the Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster) and Week 30 starts on Sunday October 16th (Final day of competition is Racing Post Trophy day at Doncaster). During the competition there will be plenty of opportunities to place virtual wagers on meetings such as the Guineas meeting, the Oaks and The Derby, Royal Ascot, the Aintree and Punchestown Festivals, the Summer National, the Galway Festival, Glorious Goodwood, the Ebor meeting at York, Champions Day at Ascot and many more big meetings involving both codes.

Players select three horses between Sunday and Friday, either the same day or on separate days, and three horses on a Saturday, six horses a week in total. Each selection carries a £10 Tote win bet and selections can be placed up to the off time of the race(s) in question. Players may select more than one horse in the same race if they wish.

Unused Sunday or weekday selections cannot be carried forward to the Saturday nor unused selections of either type to the following week. During any one week, once a selection has been posted, anymore unused selections will be treated as losing ones and players joining the competition on a Saturday will be assumed as having had three losing bets during that week.

In the event a selection for a race is a NR, the selection cannot be changed and will be treated as a wager on the favourite in that race.
Wagers will be settled using the Tote win dividend as published in the Racing Post.

At the end of each week:

The player with the highest accumulated funds for the week will be awarded 40 points
The player with the second highest will be awarded 20 points
The player with the third highest will be awarded 10 points
The player with the fourth profit will be awarded 5 points

In the event there is/are a tie(s) for any position, points for that position and the one(s) below will be divided equally eg two winners would receive 40 for first + 20 for second =60 points between them, 30 points each and points below distributed accordingly, so only the second and third highest would score points, 10 points and 5 points respectively.

There will be breaks from the weekly format on the following weeks:

Week 5 when there will be a Punchestown competition.

Week 12 when a Royal Ascot competition will run.

Week 18 when the League Of Neightions competition (Goodwood & Galway) takes place (Individual entries accepted if you are not included in a team)

Week 21 when a competition for York’s Ebor Meeting will run.

The top four players in each competition will be awarded points as above towards this competition as well as any other prize which may be offered for those competitions.

The player with the highest total of points after racing on Saturday 22nd October will be deemed the winner of the competition and win the £100 generously donated for this competition by Roddy Owen. In the event of a tie the player with the highest accumulated funds over the thirty weeks ( not counting weeks 5, 12,18 & 21) will be deemed the winner.

Any disputes my decision is final (cos I know what I meant )

*** Just for information, as this competition will finish on Saturday October 22nd, scoring for next Winter’s (slightly different) Ten To Follow Competition will commence on Tuesday November 1st, with the list of horses posted on Sunday October 23rd.***

Pluralism of Ideas and the prosperity of any land are intertwined. Freedom of minds and skill of intellect to 'think the unthinkable' is how humanity has progressed; when minds are incarcerated nothing endures.
