I asked someone more intelligent than me Martin and they said from four onwards is best
Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done
Cheers Granger - presume that's four months?

Mares in foal can travel quite late, some at the December sale in Newmarket only have 4-6 weeks to go according to their covering date. I would say may depend on temperament of the mare, if they are normally a good traveller or not and how long the journey? My mare is a stressy traveller/doesn't like change and she got in a tizz when we moved her half a mile down the road two weeks before her foaling date and started leaking milk there and then, and the foal was 8 days late so didn't help. Friends who have mares move them within 3 weeks of foaling date to a stud 3 -4 hours away on a trailer to foal down at a stud where the stallion is based for the next covering, and they have always been fine.
Thanks G-G - sending you a DM if that's ok.

I try to have them in situ 6 weeks before foaling so they have a chance to produce antibodies to whatever is floating around in that barn/stud and thus produce them in the colostrum so the foal is protected.
You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.

Kayf Tara fee doubled to £10k. For that money I think I'd prefer Walk In The Park.

The older I get the better I was.
was WITP fee announced yet?

It's declared as private which apparently means 'depends who it's for' but I'd be budgeting about £10k or a little more.

I don't think we have a 2017 thread, DG please can we amend the title of this to get rid of the year? Be nice to look back and see them all in one place ( in my humble opinion!)
Behold the cuteness that is my foal - born on Feb 8th. Black Sam Bellamy x Frosted Grape - good job she's not staying really, with that spade shape on her head she was destined to be called snow shovel
