Shame... He hasn’t been showing his old sparkle. Apparently ‘slight damage to a tendon’.

On Kim baileys blog it says the ban is for 9mths but on that link it seems to imply that it is permanent, can anyone clarify?

I hope they find him something to do that he actually likes...though it must be gutting with a potentially class horse like him...

Paul Nolan has decided to call time on the career of his Grade One-winning hurdler Shinrock Paddy after he burst a blood vessel at Navan on Sunday.
The 10-year-old was one of the top novices in Ireland in 2009, but was pulled up when a leading fancy for the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival that season.
He went on to win two more races, including the 2011 Limestone Lad Hurdle at Naas, but recent results have been disappointing and after pulling up in the Foxrock Handicap Chase, Nolan has drawn stumps.
The trainer said: "We've decided to call it a day with him. He burst a blood vessel badly on Sunday and it's the third time it's happened, so there is no point carrying on with him.
"He ran fourth in the Proudstown (Handicap Hurdle) in Navan on his first run of the season and we thought that maybe we could get him back.
"We freshened him up after he ran at Leopardstown at Christmas, he was working well at home and scoped clean, but going to the races creates a different buzz in their system and unfortunately he bled again.
"He is so well handicapped, if he didn't bleed he'd win by a fence, but unfortunately that's the condition he has. He bled after two fences on Sunday.
"If he was in America he could run on Lasix to help him, but you can't do that here, so we've had to stop."

I had a small wager on Shinrock at Christmas as he was a stone well in on his old form and seemed to be coming back to form. He was gone after a mile. Pity. Had lots of class but his jumping of fences let him down.

Retirement? He's a better option for Maryland than Hunt Ball was.

St Nicholas Abbey Regretfully St Nicholas Abbey has lost his brave battle after suffering a colic this morning. Surgery revealed a severe strangulating colon t...orsion that was unviable and he had to be euthanized on humane grounds. This is extremely unfortunate as St Nicholas Abbey had been in terrific form, the laminitis was resolving very well and the fracture had healed better than expected. Coolmore would like to thank the surgeons, the international experts and all the staff at Fethard Equine Hospital who gave him such excellent care 24/7. We would also like to thank the multitude of well-wishers for all the cards and messages of support for St Nicholas Abbey. He will be buried in the graveyard here at Coolmore.

Real shame as is the death of any racehorse however famous. Lots of tributes all over the net as you would expect for a horse of his calibre, unfortunately some of the drama queens seem to be posting all over the place and actually appear to be loving it.
