What a combination that was, Murless and Moore, perfect.

    I'm very old.

I love the story in Timeform of how Murless got Busted. Worth reading on Wikipedia.

Maybe not as old as me.

A good day's racing with one really good horse almost bowing out and another great horse announcing his arrival on the big stage. Tough horse Busted: later in the season he won both the Eclipse and King George on consecutive Saturdays.

    Consecutive Saturdays -that's mad Ted.

They were tougher then. Don't know why it was consecutive Saturdays that year. When Brigadier Gerard won it I think it was only 2 weeks apart. Now it seems the poor souls struggle to run 4 weeks apart.

(Worth reading the Wikipedia article for Busted (horse) as the bit about how he came to be trained by Murless is amusing).

Ballymoss remains the only horse to win St Leger Arc double but not in the same season.

Pluralism of Ideas and the prosperity of any land are intertwined. Freedom of minds and skill of intellect to 'think the unthinkable' is how humanity has progressed; when minds are incarcerated nothing endures.

Slip Anchor another Nottingham maiden winner was he not ?
Lester also retired there first time around.
The track did well to leave NH racing behind to concentrate on the flat.
How long before a Wetherby maiden winner goes on to win The Derby ?
