Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done
Synchronised put down, I'm afraid to report.
Sadly that will likely dominate tomorrows papers

According To Pete also. Very sad for small owners who loved the horse.
Synchronised should never have run in the race - it was an accident waiting to happen - he was far too sketchy a jumper and far too small and after Alverton I could not believe that Jonjo could have run him - it is sickening.
Commisserations for According to Pete as well .

Horrible news about the 2 horses that were lost. Synchronised/According To Pete RIP. Backed the 3 of first 4 home, so am a little chuffed

Dont be silly, that race was made for Syncronised, Mon Mome is much smaller than him and he won it. sometimes dodgy jumpers come alive at aintree, horses are there to be raced, connections dont run horses expecting them to fall. I am gutted that he has died but these things happen, and its hardly because he fell under the jockey as he ran on loose for quite a while

I'm really gutted for Stopper McLernon. It's so hard to get over the line on the big day when you're drilled at stopping them for 10 months of the year.
its ironic how it was Syncronised who threw his jockey beforehand..if he had took it out of himself when loose he wouldn't have run
BBC not exactly doing racing any favours. Showing slow-mo of According To Pete and describing Synchronised as being "destroyed".
I'd be fairly certain that reluctance to use the whip cost Sunnyhillboy the race.
I backed the winner and was delighted for Neptune Collonges, one of my favourite horses, but I am just really gutted about Synchronised.
A couple of other horses injured as well. This is going to be a PR disaster for the National - particularly when damage was done at modified Bechers, even though According to Pete was brought down. Syncronised seemed to get up afterwards - perhaps he was the horse with the screens to the left at the final fence, so did he pick it up running loose? I thought Chicago Grey was a gonner after jumping the Chair loose - again, a freakish occurance.
I think the bigger issue is the messing around at the start, probably got a few of them buzzed up - it was carnage over the first 10-12 fences. Is there a case for more watering? But where do you stop? They went a breakneck pace and that's a bigger factor than any fence modificiation.
Weird Al and Killyglen are the other two injured
the lower fences encourage more speed..i'm not seeing how they have made it safer tbh
