Strange day - one of the big days of high summer, Eclipse day at Sandown and a good card at Haydock and I can only find one bet.

'Tis Marvellous is too big in the sprint charge challenge whatever at Sandown. I think he ran a stormer in the Commonwealth - the other horses who tried hanging at the front end with the Godolphin beasts (Yalta and the Ballydoyle spoiler) both finished nowhere but the selection plugged on gamely (as he did in the Pavillion) and this drop in trip coupled with the step down in class should see him go close. I got 7/1 yesterday but he's still backable. I fear Bottaash greatly and have stuck him in doubles with Harry Angel and Sixties Groove for next weekend. I don't like the rest of them and think the King's Stand form is ropey.

Cliffs of Moher looks rock solid, and his chance is accentuated by lack of opposition from his own stable.
Mistress Quickly should improve for the step up in trip in the opener @ Haydock & looks good ew at double figure odds.

Sorry matey. I had the only danger as Calder Prince, and sure enough, it came back to bite me, with Calder Prince winning. On to today... I see Stanghow, a horse I've mentioned loads on here runs in 3:25 at Beverley. He'd be half his current odds were he not drawn so badly in stall 12. I'll be watching to see how he gets on. Full Intention is attracting strong support in the 4:25 at Haydock (into 5-1) and it might be significant. He's the horse to take seriously if you want to win! Has to be my nap today.

Naval Warfare is out in the big handicap at Sandown. Its a competitive race and I'm not sure if he'll be 100 percent ready for it, but he beat Golden Apollo last season, so probably ahead of the handicapper. I'm not backing it myself today, but worth watching. Could be quite special, or might need more racing experience before we see Naval Warfare to best affect.

Had a decent bet on Barney Roy. Loved his attitude last time out and think he will win provided his stamina doesn't give out. I'm hoping his attitude, along with his obvious class, will be enough to get him through.

My favourite lower grade sprinter in training the fella. I really enjoyed seeing him get his head in front there. He's won from a bad draw as well. Stuck his neck for a well deserved win.

Yeah not sure, although tbh, i thought Ulysees had it when they crossed the line. Barney's attitude showed again but got a bit outpaced which I wasn't expecting.

Yeah it was a mixed a day though with Sutter County and Full Intention disappointments.

Watch the market in tomorrows 2:45 at Ayr. It's an 'egg an spoon' race, (to use one of Jim Mcgrath of Timeforms/Channel 4's old phrases), but MOSTAWFEE has his first start in England and has looked like he's needed the step up to ten furlongs. I reckon he can run well at a price.

6/1 opening show, I was hoping for bigger than that but anyway. He could drift a bit in the betting I suppose between now and tomorrow, or vice versa. They don't miss a trick these bookies.

I'm not sure either. The freeze frame they showed on ITV seemed to me to show both heads hitting the line together. Instant thought was Ulysses had held on though

Not convinced that they could be separated in that photo but judges seem reluctant to call a dead-heat. Great finish though and Barney Roy is a gutsy as well as a very talented 3-y-o. I hope Cliffs Of Moher comes out of the race OK, a frightening moment for all involved.

I haven't wanted a horse to romp home at Ayr on a Sunday as much as this for a long time. Come on.

Yarmouth 5:25 Commanche has another race in him on turf on exploitable mark. Can't discount the short priced favourite in the race, but worth opposing at the current prices, if that makes sense.

Golden Apollo out tomorrow at Newmarket. Be great if he could improve again.
