Some people say he’s the best since Arkle and that’s certainly true when you look at what he’s done

Not bad for a horse who has been chinned at 1.01 a couple of times.

That must be the second most valuable prize won by an Irish trained horse over jumps.Willie is some man-different class.

Even before this big win Mullins had won more prize money this season than Nicholls or Henderson. With Punchestown to come he will be well ahead by the end of the season.

Holy Orders in The Melbourne Cup his only embarrassing moment so far overseas.
25/1 a hell of a price for Blackstairs; I hope some of the 1.01 merchants had a little on.

For a comparison on prize money - based on the 2012 standings (Jan-Dec) the following French National Hunt trainers have won more money than the leading UK trainer:

    Guillaume Macaire
    Guy Cherel
    Jean-Paul Gallorini
    Francois Cottin
    Arnaud Chaille-Chaille
    Yannick Fouin
    Francois Nicolle

Macaire and Cherel have both won more than double Henderson's total whilst purely on the 2013 total's Cherel would be second in the National Hunt trainers table from 87 horses to run in 2013 - that's with no Grade 1 races being run so far in France this season and without the richest handicap they have.

So far this season Mullins has won €3m in Ireland, £600k in Britain, £450k in Japan plus about €350k French winnings, which is about €4.6m with Punchestown to come. This would be enough for second or third place in a European table.

He's certainly mastered the International NH game - surely only a matter of time before he has a crack at the big races in Maryland?

Is the prize money still as good over there?
Grabel won a big hurdle in Kentucky? in 1990. Is that still run?
Breeders Cup Chase no longer run.
I remember the halcyon days of Grand Canyon, Inkslinger and Captain Christy in the 1970s, Raymond Guest and Mrs Samuel loved taking their stars home to race.
Michael o Hehir was taken over to commentate even.

Prize money is still very decent - think US connections bought Top Man Michael last Autumn and the likes of Black Jack Ketchum have done well over there.

The Breeders Cup Steeplechase is still run it's just not a Breeders Cup race anymore, it's had a name change but is essentially the same race run at Fair Hills (I think) every year - maybe called the American Grand National or something like that.

Saratoga stage a few valuable hurdles-usually to open the card on a Thursday-Gordin Elliot sent over Dirar a couple of years ago.
The most bizarre place I have seen hurdle racing is Parx ( formerly Philadelphia).Penn National also have a few hurdle races-strange getting home from the pub after midnight onna Friday and seeing a hurdle race.

Black Jack Ketchum? Thought he retired to Barbados. Are you thinking of Percussionist?
