One of my favourite weekends of racing, straight after Royal Ascot, prevents any let down in the quality of racing.

The smart two year olds begin to emerge, the Railway Stakes is there for the more established types, big competitive handicaps and of course a few Group 1s thrown in.

The Derby itself looks like a rematch of the first six home at Epsom. Important thing to know is last night and literally all day today it has been lashing rain on the Curragh. The forecast is not great so it will be a vastly different test to what these colts faced at Epsom.

Also Peeping Fawn is due to re-emerge on Saturday, and she will love the cut in the ground.

Would be brilliant to have the first 6 from Epsom back. Guess the only shame is that there isn't some French yoke to spice things up.

Teddy stated that The Good Doctor may go for the race in France sponsored by owner, so don't be surprised if he's a no show

That was one that jumped out at me Charlie, O'Brien always has a big priced placed horse in this race. Whats more he is German bred, any ease in the going will suit.

Really looking forward to seeing NA again over this trip. Same horse turns up, and if he settles again he could put in a huge performance.

It's less appealing if you take the view he looked a dodgepot at York and think his inability to perform at Epsom was more because he wasn't up for it rather than not handling the track.

Though the least appealing price there is Campanologist. His win owed for more to doi with tactics than any significant improvement and I wouldn't have him to beat the second or the fourth at Asot under different circumstances, never mind some of the big players from the Derby.

Accept that dj, it would be interesting to see him race on an easy surface though.

I think Godolphin all but ruled their horse out of the race yesterday.

First run of his 3yo career David and gets beaten a head, by the horse that went to nearly win Derby

Bit harsh innit calling him a dodgepot on that

Thanks for that Charlie. I was wondering if Famous Name was going to run in it too, but apparantly he's having a break before going for another race sponsored by the owner at York!

    Today

Further rain or showers in most areas this evening and tonight, with occasional heavy or thundery downpours in places. Becoming windy also. Some good dry periods developing overnight in the east and south of the country. Lowest temperatures 8 to 11 degrees.

    Tomorrow

Very windy at first tomorrow. Dull and wet in the west and north. Bright periods and occasional showers elsewhere will gradually extend to all parts of the country during the afternoon and evening. Winds will slowly decrease also. Highest temperatures 13 to 17 degrees.

    3 Day Outlook

An unsettled week in prospect with some further falls of rain, and little in the way of warm sunshine. Still a few showers on Sunday night, but fog is very likely to develop towards dawn on Monday. Monday will bring some good sunny periods and just a few passing showers, but wet and windy weather will develop again on Monday night; this rain light and patchy at first but heavier and more prolonged on Tuesday, with wet weather likely to persist through Tuesday night. Southeast winds will increase with the rain, with mist and fog likely to affect the coasts and hills. Fresher weather developing on Wednesday as the rain gives way to showers and sunny periods; the showers will be well-isolated on Wednesday afternoon, but much more widespread on Thursday, when some of them will turn heavy. Winds on Wednesday and Thursday will be moderate Southwesterly.

It's a long time until the Yorkshire Oaks.

Where could she run before then?

I don’t know what the exact reason is, just that they are not fully happy with her yet but the indications are positive enough for the future. She is too valuable to risk unless they are 100% happy with her, it’s a shame as Saturdays race (more rain today) looked an ideal returning point.

If Promising Lead heads over she will go very close, she is in very good order at home.

Lush Lashes eh? He would, you know.

Finsceal Beo repeating her Tattersall's run would be good enough, wouldn't it?

Going on the round course is "Good To Yielding and Yielding on the straight course. Goes to show how firm the ground was as we had loads of rain the last couple of days. Plenty more rain forecast this week and in particular on Friday and Friday night.
