Might they send Douvan to Aintree for the Melling Chase - as a pointer to a later King George bid ?
After this week’s events I would thought short of Altior being injured Min would be the one most likely to be stepping up to the Ryanair.
In light of events clearly Ricci was right in the first place and Douvan should have run in the Ryanair !
Memories are short
Just wondering how many people would have said UDS was a certainty had he come down four out in the 2016 Champion Chase?
Richard Fahey evidently has a short memory span.
WillieM pleased with Douvan but concerned he was too fresh and would not have finished his race .
Douvan was running so free he could equally have come to a complete halt - way too far out to tell where he would have finished . Not schooling him for over a year nearly ended in disaster.
...
Technically no as one can double declare for the six non novice Grade 1 races . I suspect both of them could well be declared and if Altior is a non runner one will be diverted to the Ryanair.
Last night Ricci suggested there was a strong chance Douvan would not run at all if they decided it was too big an ask.
I am not at all convinced the big clash will come off and won't be until we...
Considering what Ricci was saying on ATR last night this is an extraordinary volte face as he was clear Ruby had chosen Min.
Call me cynical but I do hope Douvan is not now declared a non runner...
Post was not directed at you DO point was I am surprised that anyone is surprised they **** people about they would be much better off making it clear they were keeping their options open.
After the Vautour business is anyone surprised ? I am only surprised that anyone is .
Now for the surprise UDS switch to the Champion Chase after they walk the course ....:ninja:
Ruby not certain to ride Douvan according to RP - says it might even be the toss of a coin . I tend to think the UDS needs bottomless ground is bullshit - his sudden need for soft ground only...
I take what Ricci says with a pinch of salt.
I hope he turns up in his best form so we can all see. I should also take what Danny Mullins said with a sackful.
Ruby said he thought the injury...
Watching last year's QMCC Douvan jumped badly early and left his back legs behind in a couple of fences and then put that short extra stride in at the fence after the stands.
He he will have to...
Special Tiara seems to be in better form than last year when he was much further behind in the Shloer . He is a completely different horse on spring ground -always has been.
Very impressive comeback especially that characteristic pulling right away close home albeit I think Politologue is a better horse with a lead and without STD on.
Valdez ran an absolute blinder...
If the ground is to his liking I should be surprised if Special Tiara was out of the frame . He looked to rather run away with Puppy on Saturday.
I have long since stopped listening to a word Ricci has to say .
Maybe but still soft on last reports .
I miss the days when the Clarence House was a limited handicap - tended to be a rather more interesting race rather than just a valuable Cheltenham prep .
Rather baffled by this gamble on Brain Power weather forecast suggests plenty of rain for Ascot and Un de Sceaux is a beast in the mud .
Douvan to do a Binocular ???
Sprinter could come out of retirement and win this at this rate ! He is only 12 . I am sure he would have bolted up last year but for his career ending injury .
