Cheers Homer. :D
Well Our Vic is definitely a possible, but I heard about a horse the other night, not a Pipe horse. A member of the equine nobility.

terry

Well Lord Sam would have a chance too but he wasn't the one mentioned.

Well, it's certainly not another member of the aristocracy whom I know quite well, so you'll have to put us out of our misery...

Well there's two months to go I suppose. Seems a shame to throw it away so soon.

Lord Sam??? Lord Sam?? Start him off in the Charlie Hall, he's better than the Paddy Power.

Just watched the Philip Hobbs open day on ATR where he suggested Monkerhostin as a possible for this, if he can into the handicap (he will have to win a handicap in the early part of the season to have a shout of getting in).

I hope not, I think it would be an error. I reckon they should leave him over hurdles, he would havea decent shot at the stayers if Baracouda does go chasing.

Don't reckon he'd stay the trip - 2m6f - 3m seems about his limit.
Ardross
11th September 2004, 5:58 PM
agreed 2m 4f best for him - however it takes an exceptional novice to win the Mackeson
Shadow Leader
11th September 2004, 6:24 PM
Agreed - by that stage of the season the only novices that do have a few runs over fences under their belts will be in one sided 4 runner affairs at Newton Abbot!!
At the moment I can think of a handful of likely types - Our Armageddon, Hand Inn Hand, Fondmort, Impek......Ireckon Europa could be interesting too if he regains his former enthuisiam at his new yard.
Ardross

where's he gone ?
Arkwright
11th September 2004, 6:45 PM
Ferdy Murphy got him at Donny Sales about a month back if I recall
Shadow Leader
11th September 2004, 7:02 PM
Yup, that's right - he has gone to Ferdy's. I have always been a big fan of Europa and I will watch with interest to see if he can regain the winning thread again.
He could be interesting if entered in the Mackeson as he has a pretty lenient handicap mark & 2m4f - 2m6f would be about his trip too.
Ardross
11th September 2004, 7:06 PM
Don't regard that as a forward move
Shadow Leader
11th September 2004, 7:08 PM
Ooooohhhhhhh miaow!!!!!!!!!
The change of scenery may well do him the world of good......and I'd rather Ferdy trained my horse than Tom Tate anyday....
Ardross

No doubt you would rather Europa was in Lambourn with a certain Edgy

Monkerhostin is not a novice over fences.

Absolutely...Edge can work miracles with most horses........
Shadow Leader
17th September 2004, 1:42 AM
Having seen that Knife Edge has moved to Jonjo's, I reckon he could well be a major contender for htis race now he has slipped down the handicap a little. The trip is more likely to suit him too, I reckon he wants 2m4f - 3m even.
