I hate it when they are booked for a horse - look at the ride Havlin has just given Playful Act allowing himself to get boxed in on both sides before finally getting out and finishing like a train .

OK she might not have won but trainers don't do punters a service when they put up jockeys that make such elementary mistakes .

Alot of work riders are trying to become our future jockeys. How are they meant to pursue this career if there not given mounts. Also they put in alot of the hard graft behind the scenes and deserve to get their chance.

allowing himself to get boxed in on both sides before finally getting out and finishing like a train .

Plenty of professionals do this too!

Maybe but look at the wet lettuce ride that 7lb claimer gave L Cumani's filly Batik earlier in the week . Havlin has been round for ages he is hardly up and coming .

Another good Gosden filly in Titian Time I reckon she would have won but for having to switch but in the modern world she will not get the race in the stewards room in a month of sundays

Bad luck TW - I thought she looked a million dollars and was going so well and he let Moore hem him in it was so gormless

As punters, should ye not have taken into account who was riding the horse and not moaning afterwards?

True it was a major factor in not backing her for me

A friend's son is to get his first ride for Micky Hammond sometime in the next two weeks. He's been promised 3 horses to ride with possibly a fourth which is on the comeback trail from a serious injury. Hopefully I'll get along to cheer him on ( not back him though! )

Sorry i have to dis-agree there most work jockeys are ex-jockeys. :P

Dave - please be sure to flag him up nearer the time. It's always nice to sorta know someone who's entering the game. Sadly, my neighbour's boy Carl gave it all up after just a few promising rides. He even gave up work riding, to his father's intense chagrin. The dad has been a racing nut who never misses Cheltenham, and he was over the moon when the lad started race-riding for Jamie Poulton. But there, if you can't disappoint and infuriate your parents when you're young, when can you?

I rest my case :P

What a cracking filly she is -all guts dossing in front . If she sets off and makes it a real clip she is a very worthy guineas contender too

I love this filly - as you say Ardross, plenty of guts. I went to Ascot on Saturday & thought it a decent renewal - they were a nice bunch of fillies in the paddock. Cumani's especially is very scopey.

On another tack re jockeys and Lord H's fav no.1 jock, had a conversation with one J Reid the other week at Newbury - I had backed Var and thought he was unlucky - to which John replied "I wouldn't have backed it seeing who the pilot was - & I used to ride against him!!!!" :o

And there was us asuming they all stuck together - perhaps it all changes on retirement!
